Ordergroove Feature Descriptions

Ordergroove powers Subscription and Relationship Commerce - a platform built to help merchants grow recurring revenue and develop lasting customer relationships. It handles the full lifecycle of a subscriber relationship, from acquisition through retention, and integrates directly with a merchant's existing eCommerce infrastructure.

Subscription programs evolve, and enterprise requirements change over time. Ordergroove is designed for that reality. The platform provides the depth needed to launch and scale quickly, and when your program outgrows the out-of-the-box configuration, robust APIs let you extend it with custom development.

Below is a high-level feature list. Each feature links to feature-specific documentation covering configuration overview, API documentation, platform prerequisites, and feature limitations. 

Ordergroove is API first and platform agnostic. Based on your specific use cases and eCommerce platform, Ordergroove’s Subscription solution ranges from entirely out of the box, to extensible, to customizable using our API. Native integrations with major eCommerce platforms handling product syncing, checkout, order placement, and payment tokenization.

Headless Platforms API-first integration path for headless or non-native platform architectures.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) SFCC cartridge providing storefront integration and recurring order placement.
Shopify Native Shopify app with automated installation, selling plans, and recurring order placement. Shopify-native SSO included with the Shopify App.
Additional eCommerce platform integrations Build integrations with eCommerce platforms beyond the prebuilt set using Ordergroove's APIs.

Subscription program configuration

RC3 is Ordergroove's merchant-facing administrative interface. It provides configuration, monitoring, and management capabilities for all aspects of the subscription program. 

Feature Description
Admin (RC3) Configure all subscription program parameters from a single interface. Powers the display of subscription offers on the merchant's storefront. It determines which products are eligible for subscription, what incentives to present, and how the subscription option is rendered to the end customer.
Administration of Users & Permissions Role-based access control for merchant team members. Advanced configuration available through Ordergroove Support.
Admin SSO (Entra, Okta, Ping) Single Sign-On via Microsoft Entra (Azure), Okta, or Ping for authenticating users into the Ordergroove admin. 
Configuring Email Types

Ordergroove triggers transactional subscription emails directly to end customers. Merchants configure templates through the dashboard.


 

Ordergroove has a direct Klaviyo Integration; Trigger subscription events as flows within Klaviyo for email and SMS marketing.

Data Syncing Automated and on-demand data exports for integration with BI, CRM, and operational systems.
Product Eligibility Management

View and manage synced product catalog, eligibility, groups, and replacement rules.

Control which products are subscription-eligible and their frequency at the variant level.

Recurring Order Placement Generates and places recurring orders into the merchant's eCommerce platform on a scheduled basis. Includes features such as Automatic Order merging and shipment combining.
Markets Multi-Currency (Shopify) Our integration with Shopify Markets allows you to offer a localized currency experience for your subscribers by displaying prices in their local currency.
Webhooks Subscribe to platform events via webhook for real-time notifications into your systems.

Subscription experiences

Specialized subscription models beyond standard recurring delivery. These program types enable merchants to offer bundles, prepaid plans, gifts, digital products, committed terms, rotating selections, and free trials.

Feature Description
Build Your Own Bundle Customers choose component SKUs from preset business logic that defines bundle configuration and price.
Fixed-Bundle Subscriptions Pre-configured bundles where the merchant defines the bundle contents and the customer subscribes to the set.
Committed Subscriptions Establishes a time commitment (e.g., 3 months) for a recurring subscription with an incentive for completing the commitment
Digital Subscriptions Recurring billing for digital content, services, or entitlements. Treated as a single SKU.
Free Trial Initial order is free after payment details are captured. Customer is auto-charged starting with the second order.
Gift Subscriptions Customers purchase and gift a subscription to another customer. Subscription is managed by the gift giver.
Memberships Paid programs that unlock perks, discounts, or exclusive content for ongoing fees.
Prepaid Subscriptions Customers pay once upfront to receive multiple shipments over a set time period. Currently OOB on Shopify; other platforms require custom development.
Rotating Subscriptions Subscription contents rotate automatically on a defined schedule — e.g., seasonal boxes or curated selections.
Subscribe & Save The classic recurring purchase experience where customers save on every delivery of their favorite products.

Subscriber experience

Empower your customers to manage their subscription preferences with self-serve actions.

1-Click Actions Embed skip, swap, reactivate, and manage actions directly into email and SMS. True one-click without further authentication. 
Cancel Flows Multi-step cancellation experience with retention offers, flexible enough to meet regional compliance requirements.
SKU Swap Let subscribers swap one SKU for another in an upcoming order. Not recommended alongside Subscription Price Lock, since price won't auto-adjust.
Subscription Manager

The Subscriber Dashboard (Subscription Manager) is an embeddable interface within the merchant's My Account section that allows end customers to view and manage their subscriptions and upcoming orders and actions such as Skip, Swap, Cancel, etc.

Advanced configuration of the Subscription Manager based on SKU, program type, customer group, or other business logic available.

Enrollment Strategies

Storefront features that optimize how and where customers are presented with subscription options, driving higher enrollment rates through strategic placement, transparency, and streamlined opt-in flows.

A/B Testing Run experiments on offer presentation, incentive levels, and enrollment flows. Capabilities such as A/B Testing Initial or Recurring Incentives. 
Buy X, Subscribe to Y A one-time purchase of Product X automatically enrolls the customer in a subscription for Product Y. Supports 1:1 product mapping via Purchase Post. 
Cart Opt-In (Shopify) Offer theDisplays a subscription enrollment option in the cart, capturing subscribers who didn't opt in on the PDP.
Default to Subscription The subscription option is pre-selected on the PDP, making subscribe-and-save the default purchase path.
Instant Upsell Allows active subscribers to add additional items to their upcoming subscription orders — one-time or recurring — without a new checkout. Upsell one-time purchases or subscriptions from any page, including the PDP or subscriber dashboard.
Omni-Channel APIs Extend subscriptions into social, voice, SMS, IoT, and retail store experiences.
Subscribe Anywhere Pickup In Store Set subscription orders for retail store pickup — one time, or on an ongoing basis. (SAPIS).  Available on SFCC and Custom platforms.

Promotions & flex incentives

Configurable incentive, promotional, and pricing strategy tools that drive subscription acquisition and retention. Flex Incentives encompass program-wide discounts, product-specific pricing, threshold-based offers, shipping promotions, and customer-group targeting.

Customer Group Promotions Target promotions to specific customer groups such as VIP, employee, or wholesale segments.
Combination Savings Stack multiple promotion types to maximize subscriber value. 
Program Wide Promotions Apply a promotion across the entire subscription program. Dedicated discount on the first subscription order or recurring orders only. Apply one-time discount and redeem coupons or promotion codes at the item level on future subscription orders.
Product Group Incentives Target promotions to specific product group. Backend logic that discounts products in defined groups by dollar amount or percentage e.g., Group A at 10%, Group B at 15%.
Refer-a-Friend Reward customers with promotions for referring friends. Can be built custom via data feeds and webhooks, or enabled through the Friendbuy integration.
Shipping Incentives Free or flat-rate shipping incentives for subscription orders. Shipping-specific promotions across subscriptions. Change shipping method dynamically based on order details such as shipping address or customer group. Set free shipping thresholds based on data beyond the standard set — for example, item quantity rather than cart value.
Subscription Price Lock Lock a subscriber's price for the life of their subscription.
Threshold Promotions Progressive incentives (Dollar-off or percentage-off gift) that increase based on a configurable threshold, subscriber tenure or order count. Apply increasing discounts based on the number of units in an order, when order value exceeds a configurable threshold, the customer’s number of active subscriptions.

Subscriber retention, churn protection & payments

Payment method support, failed payment recovery, and account management tools such as that maximize order success rates and minimize involuntary churn from payment failures.

Account Updater Real-time check with payment processor to retrieve updated card details (reissues, expirations) ahead of order processing.
Disengaged Subscriptions Concierge Automated outreach to subscribers with disengaged subscriptions to re-engage or gracefully offboard.
Guided Selling (Personalized Offers) Present targeted retention offers based on the cancel reason selected. 
Involuntary Churn Suite End-to-end failed-payment recovery: default 3 retries at 2-day intervals, customizable cadence, customer email flows, and recovery rate metrics. Our Recovery Optimizer automatically reprocesses failed credit transactions on an optimized schedule. Configure number of retry attempts, days between retries, and auto-cancel after max failures. 
Out of Stock Management Handle out-of-stock products across active subscriptions, with rollback support through the Solutions team if needed.
Payment Methods & Recovery Accept PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay as a payment method for subscription orders. Auto-provisioned on Shopify.
Subscription & Order Verification Confirm a subscription or order has been verified on the merchant side. Often used as a fraud prevention mechanism.

Analytics & reporting

Built-in analytics within the merchant dashboard providing visibility into program performance, customer behavior, and retention metrics.

Feature Description
Cohort Analytics Order-over-order and month-over-month retention and churn, plus subscription and subscriber LTV. Filterable by frequency and product.
Performance Analytics Dashboards Dashboard views covering revenue, active subscribers, customer actions, churn rates, and acquisition trends. 
Reporting & Data Exports Automated, on-demand, and custom reports. Daily SFTP data drops with date range and product filters. APIs preferred for data syncing.

Partner and third-party service integrations that extend Ordergroove's functionality into marketing, retention, loyalty, customer service, email analytics, and payment recovery ecosystems.
