Customers manage their ongoing subscriptions through the Subscription Manager (SM). The Subscription Manager lives within a customer's account section in your store, safely and securely protecting their subscription information and personal details.
In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about the Subscription Manager: what it is, where to find it, reporting available, and more.
What is the Subscription Manager?
The Subscription Manager is a page hosted on your storefront that your customers can use to self-serve changes to their subscriptions, billing information, payment information, and more.
You can view and edit your Subscription Manager in Ordergroove > Subscriptions > Subscription Manager. For more information on customizing the subscription manager take a look at How to Customize the Subscription Manager.
Customizing the Subscription Manager
Everything in the Subscription Manager—from the look and feel to the functionality—was designed to be customizable. You can edit the appearance with our Basic Editor or roll up your sleeves and code your own features with the Advanced Editor. Take a look at How to Customize the Subscription Manager for more information.
Subscription Manager Themes
There are two main Subscription Manager themes: v0 and v25. Both are fully functional and customizable from the ground up; v25 is a modern redesign of the customer experience that highlights the value of subscriptions and emphasizes proven retention-building options such as skip and swap.
It's good to keep in mind which version you're on. The options available out of the box and customizing experience vary a little between the versions. To check what version your Subscription Manager is using:
- Open up Ordergroove and go to Subscriptions > Subscription Manager
- Your Live Theme is on the left. There will be a Version listed, called Latest Version if your Subscription Manager is running the newest theme.
- The number listed next to the version will start with either 0.X.X.X (v0) or 25.X.X.X (v25), and will have a star if you're on the latest version.
Any new themes you create will default to the new v25 template; but we won’t change any current or draft themes.
Reporting
Understand how many subscribers skipped, changed the date or quantity of their order, swapped SKUs, and more, all over time with the Customer Actions View in the Retention & Churn Analytics Dashboard.
A/B Testing the Subscription Manager
We have APIs that you can hook into any 3rd Party AB testing solution of your choice. This approach gives you full control over variant bucketing and experiment configuration while leveraging Ordergroove's theme system. This flexibility can also be leveraged to show different Subscription Manager themes for different business use cases, even in absence of running a test.
Setting up A/B tests requires a developer or technical resource, take a look at A/B Testing Your Subscription Manager in the Dev Docs for more information.
