We are excited to announce the Alpha launch of our new Subscription Manager Template, with a customer-centric design to help boost retention and enhance the overall subscription experience.
Highlights
The new theme highlights the value of subscriptions and emphasizes proven retention-building options such as skip and swap. With a mobile-focused and efficient design, it simplifies the customer journey by enabling management of everything on one page, ensuring a seamless experience and encouraging long-term loyalty. It is also built to be accessible from the ground up, targeting WCAG 2.2 AA compliance and saving you time triaging accessibility issues.
Delight your customers with:
- Swapping a subscription product opens a searchable list to choose from
- One-time items added to an upcoming order can be upgraded to subscriptions at any time
- More flexibility when reactivating a canceled subscription
How to Join the Alpha
If you're interested in participating in the Alpha, book a time to chat with our product team or reach out to your Ordergroove CSM. We can't wait for you to explore and experience its benefits, and we're eager to hear your feedback!
How to Access the Template
The same way you create new SM themes today. Once you’re in the Alpha you will use the same Subscriptions > Subscription Manager > CREATE button you use today to generate a new theme in draft mode. This will not make any changes to your live site and you’ll now be able to begin testing and customizing your new theme which will automatically leverage the new base template.
How to Customize Your Theme
Theme Editor
There are lots of options for customizing your theme, and they can be used while in draft mode or even once you’ve set the theme live. The Basic tab of the theme editor allows you to configure the theme using out-of-the-box controls such as styles, copy, and functionality. We will continue to add more controls to the Basic tab throughout the Alpha.
The Advanced tab of the editor gives you control to edit the code of your template files directly using either the Ordergroove editor or downloading the files and working locally.
Calling APIs from Subscription Manager
We recently published a new guide on how to call additional Ordergroove REST APIs from within the Subscription Manager. Give it a look if you’re looking to build new experiences on top of the platform.
Copying Previous Customizations
If you'd like to copy previous customizations from another theme, we recommend checking the following files where most customizations are made:
- locales
- styles/variables.less
- styles/default-theme.less
- styles/base.less
- styles/globals.less
- views/main.liquid
- scripts/script.js
Then, click on the diff icon to view the changes you've made. If the icon is not clickable you have not made any changes to the file.
This will now display to you the customizations you've made and make it easier to choose which customizations you'd like to bring over to the new template. Let us know if you have trouble deciding where to place the customizations in the new template.
How to Publish and Go Live
Note: This template is in Alpha phase and may have bugs or unexpected behavior. Please make sure to test thoroughly before publishing your new theme. As bug fixes are released, work may required to implement the fixes if you've made customizations to your theme.
Once you’ve tested your new theme and you’re ready to go live with it on your live site, click the Publish button from the dropdown next to the theme you’d like to set live.
